Professional methods of oral hygiene in the dental office

Ultrasonic descalers
Descaling is the only way to get rid of tartar. Ultrasonic scaling removes tartar from the teeth and under the gums. Reduces the number of bacteria, thus preventing periodontal disease. This type of descaling is done with the help of an ultrasound device. This device has the shape of a wand with a tip that produces ultrasonic vibrations. The ultrasonic action is complemented by the action of cleaning the water, which removes the residues. When directed to the tooth surface, the tip of the appliance produces vibrations that break the tartar and plaque.

Ultrasonic descaling should be performed every 6 months. In some patients, such as smokers, this procedure should be performed every 3 months. You should also brush your teeth if you have significant buildup of tartar. Over time, the bacteria in the plaque form deposits of stones, which lead to erosion of the tooth and possibly its loss. Daily brushing does not solve this problem, so it is advisable to use professional cleaning.

Airflow
Airflow is a modern professional dental hygiene procedure designed to remove plaque and nicotine stains, coffee and stained foods in detail. In addition to the cleansing effect, it also offers an effective gingival massage, which stimulates local blood circulation, being recommended in combination with ultrasonic descaling and professional brushing or as a unique procedure, repeated once every 3 months. The Airflow device projects a jet of particles on the teeth with a high content of baking soda and water, ensuring an intense cleaning of the hard to reach areas and a feeling of freshness of the oral cavity.

Professional brushing
Professional brushing is a method of dental hygiene performed by the dentist and must be done at least once every 3 months. Professional brushing is used when dental hygiene is poor, you are a smoker or you consume food and liquids that can stain the surface of the teeth and it is often performed after the descaling procedure because it polishes and smoothes the surfaces that have been coated in tartar.

The professional brushing is done in the office with the help of an electric toothbrush mounted on the piece of the dental chair and with a special paste.

All three oral hygiene procedures listed above are safe and secure.
