About Airflow
Airflow is a modern device used to clean and remove stains from teeth (coffee stains, red wine, tobacco, etc.), dental plaque, food debris or when the teeth are white enough and we want to remove them. we restore the shine without using professional gels.
Airflow whitening involves spraying pressure on the tooth with a jet that mixes air, water and baking soda crystals. This method is a bleaching variant that does not use the chemical action of some bleaching substances, but acts through the mechanical cleaning power of bicarbonate crystals. The effect of this type of whitening is to bring the teeth back to their normal color (their natural color).
How does this device work?
The air flow device releases a jet under pressure through a hole at the end of the handpiece. The released jet is a mixture of air, water jet (adjustable temperature) and baking soda (usually lemon flavored).
The jet of the air-flow system is able to penetrate the smallest interdental spaces, thus having an efficient action on all tooth surfaces.
When is it used?
• As a dental prophylaxis procedure, for the hygiene of the oral cavity once every 3 months;
• For cleaning occlusal surfaces before performing dental seals;
• Before applying fixed orthodontic appliances and while wearing them, because people wearing brackets have difficulty sanitizing the appliance;
• Cleaning the dental abutments before the final cementation of a prosthetic work;
• After descaling for finishing;
• For the most efficient cleaning of extrinsic colors due to the consumption of colored foods and beverages, coffee, tobacco.
• The jet applied on the gums stimulates the circulation at this level, the obtained effect being beneficial, especially, for the patients prone to periodontal diseases.
