Orthodontics
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of malocclusion, ie the incorrect positions of the teeth and jaw bones that influence the balance of the face, the harmony of the profile, the correct chewing and last but not least the smile.
During childhood and adolescence, the jaw bones grow and mature, so it is easier to change the position of the teeth at this stage than later in adulthood.
More and more adults are choosing to undergo orthodontic treatment to improve the aesthetic appearance of their teeth. Treatment may take longer in this case, as the jaw bones have stopped growing.
It is recommended that a child be seen by an orthodontist until the age of 7 to determine the need to wear an orthodontic appliance. Some children need earlier orthodontic care, and others do not need it until almost all permanent teeth have erupted. When the orthodontic treatment is started in time, many adaptations of the orthodontic technique can be made both in terms of the physiognomy of the face, the bite, and the arrangement of the teeth. In other words, early orthodontic care can prevent other orthodontic treatments that may occur over time.
